About Me

My name is Louis Nguyen. I am a student at Portland State University and am working towards a bachelors degree in computer science. Although I'm still exploring my specific area of interest, I am particularly drawn to fields like data science and game development. The experience of engaging with immersive worlds and quirky cool gameplay is amazing unlike anyting else. I have attempted to create games in the past but since I discovered the industry was very exploitive on game developers I became more hesitant to continue anything related.

Phone Bill Manager Android App

  • Developed an Android application for managing phone bills with a user-friendly interface.
  • Implemented HTTP-based communication to interact with a Java web application.
  • Designed and supported a RESTful web server to handle phone bill creation, call entries, pretty-printing, and call search functionality.

Low-Light Object Detection Project

  • Designed and implemented a project to evaluate object detection in low-light environments using YOLOv5.
  • Conducted experiments on datasets, including low-light image preprocessing and combined-image techniques, to enhance detection accuracy.
  • Demonstrated limitations of YOLOv5 in low-light conditions and proposed ways to improve performace.
